I asked a friend for help finding a Saint name for when I get received into the Orthodox Church. My birth name, Douglas, isn’t a Saint’s name. I was stuck.<\/div>\n

He suggested I look at the meaning of Douglas but it came back as something like “dark waters”. I couldn’t find anything redemptive in that either. He suggested the Theophany where Jesus came up from the waters of baptism.<\/div>\n

That led me to Theophan the Recluse. I like it but it will take special permission from the Church since Theophan is recognized by the Russian Church but not the Antiochian Church (yet).<\/p>\n
