Nevertheless David took the stronghold of\u00a0Zion<\/strong>\u00a0(that\u00a0is,<\/em>\u00a0the City of David<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD\u00a0from the City of David, which\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0Zion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, \u201cYou shall not come in here!\u201d Nevertheless David took the stronghold of\u00a0Zion<\/strong>\u00a0(that is, the City of David).<\/p>\n\n\n\nZion, the Messianic Promise<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Out of\u00a0Zion<\/strong>, the perfection of beauty, God will shine forth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the LORD\u00a0shall build up\u00a0Zion<\/strong>; He shall appear in His glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many people shall come and say,
\u201cCome, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.\u201d
For out of\u00a0Zion<\/strong>\u00a0shall go forth the law,
And the word of the LORD\u00a0from Jerusalem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThus says the LORD:
\u2018I will return to\u00a0Zion<\/strong>,
And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth,
The Mountain of the LORD\u00a0of hosts,
The Holy Mountain.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:
Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
Whoever believes will not act hastily.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFulfilled in Christ<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTell\u00a0the daughter of\u00a0Zion<\/strong>,
\u2018Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’\u2009\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFear<\/em>\u00a0not, daughter of\u00a0Zion<\/strong>;
Behold, your King is coming,
Sitting on a donkey’s colt.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
As it is written:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And<\/em>\u00a0whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
But you have come to Mount\u00a0Zion<\/strong>\u00a0and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Therefore, it is also contained in the Scripture,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
